![]() ![]() Sure there are the usual horror staples to adhere to - stupid characters you just know are going to come to a sticky end, caricature soldiers to name but two - but ultimately you've got a well made film which is great to look at and, given a Spanish director surprisingly British horror movie that not only adds to the original but with the excellent ending certainly leaves the door open for Part 3. 28 WEEKS LATER, the follow up to the hugely successful 28 Days Later, picks up six months after the rage virus has annihilated the British Isles. ![]() Kudos to the producers for adding Robert Carlyle to the cast - who adds a certain vulnerability and air of menace to the role - think Begbie having a really really bad day - as well as a nicely rounded cast of supporting actors - including an impressive Imogen Poots, and Boyle alumni Rose Byrne. Cue more deserted streets, and a great opening which introduces us to the latest batch of protagonists to the rage virus - as well as lots of bored American soldiers - who whilst they don't actually add anything to the plot certainly keep the action moving. It's (funnily enough) 28 Weeks Later - and the infected have all died out, so it is now time to repopulate London. Taking over directing duties from Danny Boyle is Juan Carlos Fresnadillo - and at just a shade over an hour and a half long - he has given us a great piece of well paced, atmospheric cinema, with more than enough moments in there to please fans of the original, as well as plenty in there for anyone new to movies' concept. Given that this time of year normally gives way to three-quels, kid friendly fayre or brainless blockbusters it's nice to have a proper 18 certificate horror film we can all go and see - without the worry of horror-lite 12A Hollywood horror, or 'lets try to gross out as much as possible' Hostel-a-like films. ![]() ![]() ![]() The 12th and 13th cards are showcase common or uncommons. In Innistrad: Midnight Hunt, one of these will be from the main set, while the other will be a made-for-Commander card that either comes from the set booster or the Commander pre-constructed decks' exclusive cards. Card Ten and the 11th are extended-art cards. The ninth card is a guaranteed foil rare or mythic rare.Cards seven and eight will be foil uncommons (double- or single-sided).The next four cards will all be foil commons (double- or single-sided).Instead, the first card is a foil double-sided token. Collector's Boosters are the only ones to not have a marketing card. With Innistrad: Midnight Hunt, you can expect to find: Like set boosters, the exact distribution in collector's boosters changes from set to set. Five percent of art cards can also be a rarer version with the artist's golden signature embossed onto it. The last card is an art card, which is not a game piece but includes blown-up versions of card art.Card 13 will be a rare or a mythic rare. The 12th card is always a foil in the normal card style, but from any rarity. In Midnight Hunt, new, exclusive, made-for-Commander cards were also introduced to Set and Collector's boosters. The tenth and 11th cards can be single- or double-faced cards from any rarity, in any of the set's showcase frames, or in a borderless style that sees the card stretch out to the edge of the card.In sets where there are more than one showcase, like Midnight Hunt, these will only be from one style, such as the Equinox frame. Cards eight and nine can be single- or double-faced commons or uncommons in either the standard frame or the set's alt-art "showcase" frame. The sixth and seventh are single-faced uncommons. The third, fourth, and fifth cards are single-faced, common rarity. The List is a collection of cards from Magic's history, printed in their original framing, and what those cards can be changes from set to set. The first card can either be the usual marketing card, like in draft boosters, or it can be a card from "The List".As of Innistrad: Midnight Hunt, the current set booster breakdown is: It's also more difficult to pin down a set booster's rarity ratio, with each slot in the pack having its own chance of being a different rarity.īecause these are a new product, Wizards has tweaked the rarity distribution between sets. Set boosters include fewer cards than draft or collector's boosters, only having 14 instead of the usual 16. For those who just like to rip open a booster and have no desire to play limited formats, these are the ones to pick. Despite being so new, Wizards of the Coast is positioning them as 'the future' of cracking packs. Set boosters are the newest addition to the line-up, introduced with 2020's Zendikar Rising. Each of these formats requires players to make decks specifically from only the cards found in a draft booster pack, and are popular at set pre-release events. As the name suggests, draft boosters are designed for limited formats, such as draft and sealed play. While draft boosters have always been the primary kind of pack people buy, they do serve a specific purpose. ![]() For example, in Strixhaven: School of Mages, the basic land slot was instead replaced by the Mystical Archive card, which could be uncommon, rare, or mythic. For example, the particle size velocity, ParSiVel disdrometer (Battaglia et al. Disdrometers measure the drop or ice crystal size distribution and fall speed of hydrometeors making certain physical assumptions. Instruments to measure snow ice particles on the ground are limited in their ability to provide detailed microphysical properties such as particle shape and size information. Although improvements of parameterizations based on field and laboratory measurements have been reported (Heymsfield and Westbrook 2010), more direct measurements of terminal velocities for a variety of particle types are needed to develop better parameterizations, so that they can be used to improve climate models and the prediction of mass and heat budget based on numerical forecasting models. Parameterizations of ice particle fall speeds were determined for specific ice particles and can be found for example in the work of Locatelli and Hobbs ( 1974) and Kajikawa and Okuhara ( 1997). Thus, measurements of ice crystal shape and size, and their distribution are particularly valuable for assessing climate change issues and for aviation applications. Usually detailed information on particle distributions (as opposed to average or effective sizes) is required for accurate radiative transfer calculations (Mitchell et al. Light scattering by these particles is affected strongly by their shapes (Schlimme et al. Both ice fog and light snow are dominated by smaller ice particles or crystals with sizes below 1 mm. Climate modelling studies suggested that ice fog can significantly affect the radiative budget in the Arctic (Girard and Blanchet 2001). In addition to their role in aviation and transportation safety, these ice particles also influence the radiative transfer in the atmosphere therefore they affect the Earth’s climate significantly (Gultepe et al. 2009, 2015b), but better knowledge of the microphysical properties of atmospheric ice particles is essential to the development of the meteorological forecast models. Forecasting of these weather phenomena, however, is difficult (Gultepe et al. Ice fog and light snow are important weather phenomena as they affect aviation and transportation through visibility reduction (Gultepe et al. These conditions typically happen at higher latitudes during cold winter conditions such as over Arctic regions. Ice fog and light snow usually form at cold temperatures below −10 ☌ when ice nuclei exist in a supersaturated environment with respect to ice. During ice fog events the size distribution measured had a lower mode diameter of 300 μm compared to the overall campaign average with mode at 500 μm. The majority of ice particles during the 2-month-long campaign had sizes between 300 and 800 μm. In this work, ICI measurements collected during the fog remote sensing and modeling (FRAM) project, which took place during Winter of 2010–2011 in Yellowknife, NWT, Canada, are summarized and challenges related to measuring small ice particles are described. An illuminating LED flash and image capturing are triggered by the photodetector. Detected particles are then imaged with high optical resolution. A laser beam across the vertical air flow containing the ice crystals allows for their detection by a photodetector collecting the scattered light. The ice crystal imaging (ICI) probe samples ice particles into a vertical, tapered inlet with an inlet flow rate of 11 L min −1. An imaging instrument, aimed at measuring ice fog and light snow particles, has been built and is presented here. ![]() These phenomena need to be better represented in forecast and climate models therefore, in addition to remote sensing accurate measurements using ground-based instrumentation are required. Prediction of these hydrometeors using models is difficult because of limited knowledge of the microphysical properties at the small size ranges due to measurement issues. Ice fog, diamond dust, and light snow usually form over extremely cold weather conditions, and they affect both visibility and Earth’s radiative energy budget. ![]() ![]() It holds true to its purpose, all the way through. The debates are well-presented, yet remain secondary to the main plot and theme. The court case is exceptionally well-written. ![]() The writing, directing and acting are all top-notch. Setting aside the "faith vs atheism" some may try to impose upon this film, as a film this performs very well. All else is merely a plot device to propel that theme. This film is actually about the personal journey of one man and how it affects the people around him. In short: how arrogant are we? How do we handle life's adversities? Do we stand up to them or blame someone else? Do we attempt to judge others despite our own limitations? Whether or not God exists and subsets thereof is only the lure to get people to watch the film. It's about how we view our belief systems. And that's the point: this film isn't about personal belief systems. Humankind exhibits a degree of arrogance and self-importance beyond all sense. What do I believe? Yes there is a God, no God is not responsible for the consistently selfish decisions made by humankind and the consequences thereof, and humans (who are limited to a measly 5 senses) trying to judge God is like a 2-year old throwing a tantrum because his parents won't let him eat all the cake and candy he wants. The question isn't "Does God exist?" The question is: Is this a good movie? Was it well directed, well-acted, have a good story-line, stick to the plot with consistency, offer an imaginative resolution and make a point? My answer to all of those questions is Yes. those who attempt to view this movie from their personal belief system will surely miss the point of the film entirely. Just as "He who represents himself in court has a fool for an attorney". not philosophical or faith vs atheist teachings. In fact, this film succeeds because it doesn't really try to answer any of those questions. So I don't rate this on any of those issues. The main point is this: this movie has little to do with whether or not there is a God, whether or not He is responsible for all things, or mankind's position in trying to judge God if indeed he does exist. But the reason I rate it so highly is more important than the rating itself: it's because I couldn't find a single flaw in the entire film. So when I give this potentially-biased movie a 10-star rating, it's because I believe it fully deserves it. ![]() ![]() ![]() Lagrange wrote in his Mécanique analytique (published 1788, based on work done around 1755) that mechanics can be viewed as operating in a four-dimensional space- three dimensions of space, and one of time. A hint of that complexity can be seen in the accompanying 2D animation of one of the simplest possible regular 4D objects, the tesseract, which is analogous to the 3D cube. It is only when such locations are linked together into more complicated shapes that the full richness and geometric complexity of higher-dimensional spaces emerge. Single locations in Euclidean 4D space can be given as vectors or n-tuples, i.e., as ordered lists of numbers such as ( x, y, z, w). Einstein's concept of spacetime has a Minkowski structure based on a non-Euclidean geometry with three spatial dimensions and one temporal dimension, rather than the four symmetric spatial dimensions of Schläfli's Euclidean 4D space. Einstein's theory of relativity is formulated in 4D space, although not in a Euclidean 4D space. Large parts of these topics could not exist in their current forms without using such spaces. Higher-dimensional spaces (greater than three) have since become one of the foundations for formally expressing modern mathematics and physics. The eight lines connecting the vertices of the two cubes in this case represent a single direction in the "unseen" fourth dimension. This can be seen in the accompanying animation whenever it shows a smaller inner cube inside a larger outer cube. The simplest form of Hinton's method is to draw two ordinary 3D cubes in 2D space, one encompassing the other, separated by an "unseen" distance, and then draw lines between their equivalent vertices. In 1880 Charles Howard Hinton popularized it in an essay, " What is the Fourth Dimension?", in which he explained the concept of a " four-dimensional cube" with a step-by-step generalization of the properties of lines, squares, and cubes. Schläfli's work received little attention during his lifetime and was published only posthumously, in 1901, but meanwhile the fourth Euclidean dimension was rediscovered by others. The general concept of Euclidean space with any number of dimensions was fully developed by the Swiss mathematician Ludwig Schläfli before 1853. published in 1754, but the mathematics of more than three dimensions only emerged in the 19th century. The idea of adding a fourth dimension appears in Jean le Rond d'Alembert's "Dimensions". This concept of ordinary space is called Euclidean space because it corresponds to Euclid's geometry, which was originally abstracted from the spatial experiences of everyday life. For example, the volume of a rectangular box is found by measuring and multiplying its length, width, and height (often labeled x, y, and z). Three-dimensional space is the simplest possible abstraction of the observation that one needs only three numbers, called dimensions, to describe the sizes or locations of objects in the everyday world. Four-dimensional space ( 4D) is the mathematical extension of the concept of three-dimensional space (3D). ![]() ![]() ![]() TstatsHomePath= volume:cold1/idx1/summary It’s recommended to configure these parameter using the volume definitions itself.
